Reaction Images – specializing in sports and portraits – from Georgia recently switched to the New SmugMug platform. Reaction Images writes to us…
1. Why to you like photography ?
Photography is my creative outlet and put me on a path that I’ve been on for as long as I can remember. Took courses in high school and college, learned the details of film processing & printing, focusing mostly on black and white prints (learned to appreciate the work of Ansel Adams). Really enjoy trying to see how to best use available light to produce a memorable image.
2. What is your favorite type of photography ?
Sports Photography is my favorite. Capturing the reactions of the individual competitor is exceptionally rewarding, from both a creative and service perspective. Continually looking for “the shot” that captures the emotion, skill, grace, beauty, power of an athlete, at any age or skill level, competing in the sport they love in front of their family, friends and fans.
3. Share a funny story about your photography…
I used a film camera to shoot a summer vacation weekend, then discovered there had been no film in the camera. Fortunately it wasn’t the only camera in action. This also hastened my conversion to a digital format.
4. Share a photography trick or tip…
Arrive as early as possible to a game or match…get acclimated to the environment and observe. Some of the best candid images are in the warm-ups.
5. Why do you love SmugMug and/or jR Customization ?
SmugMug provides the perfect showcase and storefront for my efforts. When I’ve needed it, their technical support has been is thorough and complete. Their recently launched new look / new functionality should give SmugMug a major competitive advantage…I see it as a business-enabler on which to capitalize. Also appreciate the capability to design/re-design my site with the new tools and functionality. jR Customization provides another layer of sophistication, expanding the my sites potential. Really enjoyed the personal attention, appreciated the patience and the interaction with their team in developing my site’s web presence (i.e., look and feel).
6. What is your major goal or photography project for 2013 ?
In 2013, I’ll focus on enhancing a social net-working presence through my Twitter account and web site Blog. Will also expand the range of subjects covered, particularly looking at nature, shapes and shadows as candidates.
